Canadian International School (CIS) in Bangalore is a leading co-educational international school offering education from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 to over 800 students comprised of over 40 nationalities.  CIS has been a leader in inclusive, transformative learning for almost 29 years, blending academic rigour with hands-on opportunities to help students develop into growth-minded global citizens.

The school is located in the peaceful suburb of Yelahanka at Survey 4 & 20, Manchenahalli Village, Bangalore. CIS offers a world-class curriculum progression beginning with Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary for elementary and middle years, then IGCSE for Grade 9 and 10, and finally the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Grade 11 and 12. With an impressive student-teacher ratio of 6:1 and 102 certified international educators, the school prioritises conceptual understanding, core values (Respect, Integrity, Caring, Inspiration, Joy), and sustainability as a fully solar-powered school committed to being carbon neutral; the first and only one in Bangalore.

In 2025, the school celebrated 79 graduates who received over US$3 million in merit scholarships, demonstrating their commitment to preparing students for the best universities globally while also developing qualities in leadership and resilience.

About Canadian International School

CIS stands for the mission to nurture, challenge, and empower students to flourish on their chosen pathways, developing competencies, character and a sense of global citizenship through joyful, reflective learning. Established in 1996, CIS draws on Canadian educational principles and adapts them to create an inclusive and diverse community that embraces the best of international practice where 35 languages are spoken.

English is the language of instruction, focusing on inquiry-based, experiential education – linking the classroom concept with the real world. CIS takes a holistic approach that encompasses arts, athletics, and service beyond the classroom to develop resilient and empathetic leaders. As an IB World School and Cambridge International School, CIS has been on the cutting edge of pedagogical innovation, integrating the use of 1:1 iPads since 2011 and involving students in environmental stewardship through rainwater harvesting and organic gardening.

The CIS ethos values diversity as evidenced by celebrations highlighting Diwali and the Terry Fox Run which raised ₹8.75 lakhs for Cancer Research in the past two years, affirming the important role CIS plays as an innovative, inclusive and progressive school in India’s educational landscape.

Canadian International School Infrastructure

CIS has contemporary infrastructure that is built to facilitate dynamic, technology-enhanced learning across the extensive campus. Each indoor space is air-conditioned, and every classroom has a personal device (either iPad or laptop) to provide seamless digital integration. CIS also has specialised science rooms, computer labs, band and choral rooms, art studios, as well as makers and design spaces, and English as an Additional Language (EAL) classrooms from Grades K-10.

The libraries are learning spaces dedicated to research and creativity. The administrative and counselling offices provide individualised support. Infrastructure is designed with sustainability in mind. The school uses a rainwater collection system, a sewage treatment plant, and 350,000 litres of cistern storage to facilitate eco-friendly operations.

A new indoor gymnasium, opening in 2024-2025, will also provide a dedicated physical and collaborative space. CIS provides an environment conducive to innovation, accessibility, and wellness for its diverse learners.

Canadian International School Campus

Located within the green space of Yelahanka, North Bangalore, the CIS campus is a secure, lush area of 14 acres at Survey 4 & 20, Manchenahalli Village featuring nature and contemporary design. With turfed sport fields and playgrounds, as well as an organic garden, the layout works to remove barriers of movement between learning environments and recreation spaces and accommodations.

Notable campus features include the 480 seat Odeum, a performing arts center for assembly and theatrical productions, several floodlit tennis courts, and two swimming pools overlooking green lawns. Sustainability efforts are highlighted with solar panels and harvested rainwater powering the entire facility and recycling systems, creating a pollution free, inspiring space.

The CIS campus is easily accessible by major roads, allowing for a relaxing getaway from city limits while ensuring safety with gated, secure entrances, ample parking, and CCTV monitored walkways that inspire outdoor exploration.

Canadian International School Facilities

CIS offers modern, well-designed facilities catered to holistic development that combine academic, residential and recreational facilities. The boarding program is divided into separate air-conditioned wings for males and females, with either shared or private accommodation, lounges with cinema, table tennis, foosball, pool tables, and pantries for light meals.

The cafeteria is a shared area for meals, which offers a distance variety of Eastern, Western and vegetarian cuisines with an open-style kitchen. The tuck shop is student-run, provides opportunity for independence from the meal program. Athletic facilities include a 25-meter pool, fitness center with muscular weight room and lockers, turf soccer field, courts for basketball and badminton and a yoga/mediation room.

The in-school support system includes music rooms, induction of libraries and the Odeum for art displays and events. The facilities also include available medical rooms, art/craft studios, and transport for boarding students that are GPS trackable. CIS provides a self-sustained living and learning environment for day students and boarding students.
