Excelsior American School (EAS), located in Gurugram, is a distinguished coeducational international day-cum-boarding school in Gurugram’s DLF Phase I offering an educational experience from Pre-Nursery to Grade 12. Founded in 2006, EAS is home to approximately 500-600 students, representing a swath of backgrounds, from pre-nursery and early years to Grade 11.
At EAS, we focus on self-inspired learning using critical thinking skills and whole child development. EAS is fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate (IB) for the Diploma Programme and is also authorised by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) for IGCSE and primary/secondary curriculums. Our educational approach is student-centred, encourages multiple intelligences, and utilises project-based learning.
EAS is part of a network of schools located in Houston, Texas, that combines American educational principles in a global context while creating an affirming environment where students are prepared to strive for entry into some of the best universities in the world. EAS provides a strong focus on academic rigour, wellness, and cultural diversity and is one of the best international schools in Gurgaon for expatriate and local families who want a well-rounded education for an evolving world.
Founded in 2006 by Hersh Kumar, Excelsior American School’s vision is inspired by the Excelsior chain from Houston, USA. EAS hopes to develop lifelong learners in India’s fast-paced and ever-changing NCR region. The school is located in Sushant Lok, Block C2, behind the Dell building. EAS has assembled a group of international educators with excellent credentials who are passionate about the teaching process and embrace a variety of teaching techniques.
The EAS philosophy focuses on self-inspired learning and encourages students to think critically instead of memorising content, all while embracing technology and fostering global partnerships. The curriculum progresses from a Montessori-based Pre-Nursery program through a High School Diploma Program (IB Diploma) in Grades 11 – 12. EAS emphasises values such as generosity, responsibility, and empathy. Excelsior maintains a low student-teacher ratio of 1: 10 -15 and develops an inclusive multicultural community, including expatriates.
Pastoral care for children’s emotional wellbeing is integrated into all classes. Over the years, Excelsior has transformed into a beacon of educational excellence. EAS has built a reputation for success in developing adaptive learning during unforeseen circumstances, such as COVID-19, and supporting students who have gone to universities including Ivy Leagues and IITs.
